Where do your fishing charters depart from?

All Is That Right Sport Fishing trips depart from Long Bay Pointe Marina, located at 2109 W Great Neck Road in Virginia Beach, VA, right on the Lynnhaven Inlet. The location puts us just minutes from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel and quick runs to the Atlantic, so you spend less time riding and more time fishing.

What's included with my fishing charter?

Every private charter includes all rods, reels, tackle, bait, and safety gear, plus fish cleaning at the end of the day so you head home with ready-to-cook fillets. The 36′ Luhrs also has an enclosed head (bathroom), shade, and plenty of deck space. You just bring food, drinks, sunscreen, and appropriate clothing — we handle the rest.

What fish can we catch off Virginia Beach?

It depends on the season. Nearshore (within 15 miles of the coast) we target cobia, Spanish mackerel, spadefish, striped bass, and sharks. Offshore trips head to the Atlantic canyons for tuna, wahoo, and mahi-mahi. Capt. Ryan will steer you toward whatever is biting best during your trip dates.

What's the difference between an offshore and nearshore trip?

Nearshore trips stay close to the Virginia Beach coastline and Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel — usually within 1 to 15 miles — targeting cobia, Spanish mackerel, spadefish, and sharks. Offshore trips run farther out to the Atlantic canyons for pelagic species like tuna, wahoo, and mahi-mahi. Nearshore trips are great for families and first-timers; offshore trips are for anglers chasing bigger, faster fish.

How many people can the boat hold?

The Is That Right is a 36′ Luhrs sportfisher with comfortable space for a private group. Every trip is 100% private — it's your group only, never a crowded head boat. Capt. Ryan can recommend the right trip length and target species based on your group's size and experience level.

Question 6

Do I need a fishing license?

Accepted Answer

No. Your charter is covered under Capt. Ryan's USCG-licensed captain and vessel documentation, so you don't need to buy a personal Virginia fishing license for the trip. Just show up ready to fish.

Question 7

What should I bring on the charter?

Accepted Answer

Bring food and drinks (a cooler is fine, though we have one aboard), sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a light jacket or rain gear depending on the weather. Wear non-slip, closed-toe shoes. Don't forget a camera to capture the catches — and a cooler for your fillets on the way home.
